AGATE CAMEOS---usually come from Idar-Oberstein, Germany. A little city in Germany famous for their gemstone and agate carvings. This type of carving seems to be much more difficult because of the hardness of the gemstones and agates. These cameos are ultrasonically carved. They are created from pieces of high quality white agate found only in this region. The agate is first dyed, black, red, green or blue. A computer, using a template from the original hand carved work of art, ultrasonically carves each piece. The color is then chemically drawn back out of the face of the stone, leaving the face in its original white condition. The finished piece is very resistant to chipping and will not peel, crack, fade, or discolor with age. This is why agate cameos have turned out to be such an investment handed down from generation to generation.

SHELL CAMEOS----Over 25 different sea shells are used plus a large array of coral in carving shell cameos. The method is the same used thousand of years ago. Steel gravers with handles, fitting the hand are used in a timeless tradition of master craftsmanship. The master carver will select the shell to be used, outline the number of cameos to be obtained from that shell, and then supervise the entire craving process. With these sharp precision tools, the most intricate details can be obtained. No matter what your choice might be it will be a “INVESTMENT” handed down from generation to generation.

RESIN CAMEOS Our Resin Cameo have been hand-crafted from a latex mold made from the original cameo. Liquid resin is hand painted into the face of the mold then a second color is added for the background. When released from the mold the cameo is hand detailed with dental tools where necessary. The Cameo is then antique with a stain, there are no machines used in the making of these cameos. Each one is a fine detailed work of art created from the original cameo.
